Mike, I wonder what you think about this recent post from Bryan Caplan. He says he's not a gun owner himself, but he reasons that 20,000 deaths a year is a small price to pay for all the benefits we get from guns. I'm not convinced, for reasons including that he seems to equate reasonable limitations on guns with banning all guns. Still, it's useful to read a take that's different from mine, and Caplan never fails to serve his takes up hot.
At a glance- the fact that its actually over 40k gun deaths a year might be a higher price to pay?
I guess he's just referring to these homicides statistics. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/homicide.htm
I agree that leaving out gun-related suicides isn't reasonable, especially because gun ownership rates are associated with higher suicide rates. https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2020/06/handgun-ownership-associated-with-much-higher-suicide-risk.html

these stories are all terrible, but one must admit that Artley Skenandore is a spectacular name.
His son is a principal https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/news/native-american-issues/2021/06/25/oneida-nation-high-school-key-revitalizing-culture-25-years/5320949001/
I mean, the article doesn't say anything at all about who this principal is or isn't related to. Let's not jump to conclusions!
:)
Thank you, Mike. Your insights on gun violence have been very prescient in recent months. I wish you had no subject matter to draw on, unfortunately.
