I just watched Maestro and 2/3’ds in started looking at interpretations online to figure out what the heck was going on.

After the movie I read this review by Peace.

I laughed so hard I was on the floor. Each sentence was more hilarious than the one before.

The movie Maestro was terrific thanks to Mike Pesca’s review and the best belly laugh I’ve had in a long time.

Thanks Mike!

I'm unsubscribing from "paid" Pesca substack. Too many other substacks are worthy of my $50. This one feels like an afterthought like the tumbleweeds rolling thru the pescagist, pescami, mikepesca social media feeds. (Hint: Michelle - hire an intern the way Yglesias does and have them do some online housekeeping and try out content composition shared via Mike -- win-win)

Will move my $50/year to mikepesca.com

Want that enterprise to flourish! Very valuable media voice (that is increasingly conservative, but thoughtful and respectful).

Sorry to post off topic, but I don't want to register for and learn reddit. I waste enough time online without another distraction

How can you folks have misread this film so poorly? Leonard Bernstein was brilliant and broke a lot of hearts, but he brought beautiful art to our lives. The same can probably be said for Bradley Cooper. You don’t have to like the film but at least recognize that your flippant comments are that.

Remarks can be both flippant and accurate.

My opinion of Bernstein the person, and not the guy who wrote the first movie musical (WSS) I actually enjoyed, was first shaped by Tom Wolfe's "Radical Chic . . . ." Your review was enjoyable reading all the way through, and not only because it reinforced my opinion of LB as an insufferable twat and talented a-hole (just ask his daughter who didn't so much like being french-kissed by him). Your review was honest and funny and absolutely nailed how i would have reacted had I chosen it to wring out some equity form my monthly Netflix investment. Thanks for watching so I don't have to.
